A Newsletter for Retirees * Also posted at www.pioneersofrge.com Good afternoon,    Just wanted to send out a quick reminder note about the Florida picnic coming up and to share a "Celebration of Aging" event here in Rochester. From Lifespan:    "Lifespan is hosting our annual “Celebration of Aging” luncheon on March 29th, noon, at the Convention Center and this year’s keynote will be given by former NBA star and current ESPN commentator, Bill Walton. Tickets are available for just $55/each and 100% of the proceeds will be used to help older adults and caregivers right here in our community." You can click here for the sign up sheet/more information: Celebration of Aging  Warmest regards, Molly ~REMINDER~ 2018 Florida Picnic Reservations have been made for annual RG&E Emeritus Reunion Picnic. This year it will be held on Monday, March 5, 2018 at: Lake Seminole Park, Shelter # 5 10015 Park Boulevard Seminole, Florida From 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM Please Note:  This is the same shelter used in previous years. For this event we are planning a format similar to the one used for the last few years where each person, couple or group should bring their own food, drink and table service. Grills are available for anyone interested in cooking their own hots, burgers or sausages. Charcoal will be supplied. The event is open to all retired and former RG&E employees. Immediate family members and interested current employees are welcome, too. Everyone attending should also be aware that alcoholic beverages are not permitted in the park. Volunteers interested in helping are welcome. Suggestions to improve the format are also encouraged. The annual Florida picnic is a great time to renew acquaintances with old friends and former co-workers. Help share family developments and work experiences. Some of these stories, especially those from work, can be quite hilarious.  Hope to see everyone there. For those of you that know Ed Messmer, he still works for the company. He had a stroke a few weeks ago and has been in the ICU ever since. He is aware of what is going on, but currently blind and unable to speak. He has been on and off a breathing tube and is currently back on it, but is improving bit by bit, daily. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.  Obits (Click names to see obituary) Elmer C. Burnup Jr. I received a note that Dan Altre passed away, I did not see an obituary for this. If you know of folks that should be getting this newsletter - have them check their spam or junk folders. I have come across a few that we send to, request that I put their email in, but they never open them, so I assume they are caught up in spam.
